A worker was struck and killed Wednesday by a construction train at the future site of the Wilshire/La Brea Station on Metro’s Purple Line Extension Project. Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters were called just after 4:50 p.m. to Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue on reports of a person stuck under a train, according to the department’s Nicholas Prange.
Authorities identified 22-year-old Fallon Montanucci, of Gardnerville, as the woman who lost her life following a two-vehicle collision on Saturday in Minden. The fatal car crash took place shortly after 4 a.m. on U.S. 395 and Airport Road. According to the investigation reports, the driver of a silver 2020 Ford F-150 pickup was going the wrong way in the southbound lane when it collided head-on with a 2017 Hyundai Accent, driven by Montanucci. Fallon Montanucci succumbed to her injuries at the scene. On arrival, emergency personnel rescued and airlifted a passenger in Montanucci’s car by Care Flight to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford was also flown by Care Flight to a hospital. Impairment and speed are suspected to have contributed to the accident. No other details are available.
