1 killed after small plane crashes onto 210 Freeway in Sylmar - NewsBreak

A plane crashed Wednesday afternoon along the westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway in Sylmar.The crash happened just before 12:30 p.m. alongside the westbound lanes at the Hubbard Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. The plane was described as a red Cessna.At least one person was killed in the crash, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Firefighters worked to contain a small fuel leak and a search of the area did not turn up anyone else who had been in the plane.The plane landed in the middle of trees on an embankment along the freeway and did not hit any vehicles, but authorities say drivers should avoid the area. The crash did not spark any flames.The NTSB is en route to the scene and will handle the investigation of the crash, according to the LAFD.This is a breaking news story. Officials identified 19-year-old Joshua Adonai Manzanares, of Lake Elsinore, as the teenager who was killed following a suspected DUI crash Monday night near Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla. The fatal car accident took place on North Torrey Pines Road just after 11 p.m. Joshua Adonai Manzanares was one of four passengers in a 2020 Subaru WRX that was going at a high rate of speed on the southbound side of North Torrey Pines Road. According to the authorities, the Subaru was being driven by another 19-year-old boy when, for undetermined reasons, he lost control of the car and struck the center median before smashing through a guardrail. Due to the impact, Manzanares and another passenger were thrown from the sedan as it went over the ledge, hit multiple rocks, and came to a stop on the beach.
